Volunteer with the Irish Blue Cross

Make a difference – for pets, their people, and your community.

We are extremely fortunate to have a team of volunteers who support us, brining with them a vast range of experience and skills. They are an integral part of the wider Irish Blue Cross team and we are very grateful to each and every one for their commitment and enthusiasm.

Volunteers help out with our fundraising events, cash collections, admin duties in our office, and on our mobile clinics.

If you can help, please get in touch.  You can email us on [email protected]  or  [email protected].

Clinic Admin Volunteer

I got involved with The Irish Blue Cross after my wife spotted an advert for volunteer drivers. It reminded me that I had helped out for a couple of evenings back in the early 1980s. I applied, was interviewed, and started in June 2025 and I’ve enjoyed every duty since. As a driver, I arrive early to carry out vehicle checks, ensure vaccines are stocked and make sure everything is ready before heading to clinics in Crumlin, Smithfield or Finglas. While I may be behind the wheel, I’ve seen firsthand how vital these mobile clinics are.

I’ve witnessed extraordinary dedication from our vets and deep appreciation from clients. I’ve seen a distressed dog receive urgent treatment and later return calmer and recovering well. I’ve seen a critically ill dog referred just in time for life-saving surgery. I’ve met owners who walk long distances in terrible weather because their pets mean everything to them. For many people, these animals are not just pets, they are their companions and family.

I originally volunteered because I enjoy driving. I continue because I believe deeply in the work. The Irish Blue Cross team is exceptional, and I’m proud to play my small part in making a real difference.
